Tommy Davidson

Comedian, actor and singer Tommy Davidson was born in Mississippi. When he was just two years old, he was adopted by Barbara Davidson, a white civil rights worker. He grew up in Washington, DC with two white siblings and his adoptive mother.
Tommy’s talent and desire to perform were evident at an early age. When he was seven, he and a group of friends sang at a recreational center. He graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1982 and later briefly attended the University of the District of Columbia.
Tommy got his start in comedy shortly after he left school, when he performed at a club in Washington, DC. He received an enthusiastic response from the audience. In 1987 he moved to Los Angeles and started performing in comedy clubs.
In 1990 he made his first appearance on the popular Fox TV show In Living Color and was a regular performer on the program until its cancellation in 1993. During this same time, Tommy had a number of hit television specials in both Washington, DC and Philadelphia. In 1991, Rolling Stone magazine named Tommy one of the “Rising Stars of Comedy.” He has also appeared in several movies including Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls and Juwanna Mann. Tommy continues to perform stand-up comedy throughout the country and his routines receive rave reviews. He is also the voice of Oscar Proud on the popular Disney series The Proud Family.
